The town of Challans situated in the department of Vendée has, through an association, developed year by year a manifestation presenting habits and customs of the years 1910.
This free entertainment is, by its importance, the most important of the "Pays de la Loire".
"Autrefois Challans 1910" present the 4 Thursdays of the "ancient fairs", where for this occasion, the town and its residents stopped the time,

Come and live one of these days in Challans you will give into what was the life in the last century.
Thanks to the participation of 1700 volunteers, you will be able to discover the period costumes, the beginings of mechanization, bicycles, motorbikes, bangers, and also the trades of yesteryear.
The younger children can discover what school was like at this time, and for the grown-ups, to relive the fairs where farm produce was sold.
The amusements of an ancient fun fair for everybody.
 
In a way very solemn the traditional 1910 wedding will be presented to you with, as guests, the leading people of the period town.
The enthusiasm of the traditional folklore groups will entertain you all day long, dancing to the accordeon rhythm.
In the evening, a folklore festival will prolong the festvity with dances and the public could take part in. Barbecue, pancakes and refreshment bar.
For those who wish, they can take part in the traditional 1910 wedding feast, which will be animated by games and traditional dances (in exchange for a contribution) and followed by an ancient dance.
